Books Read

I tend to set goals. I always have. It’s just the way I am. One day, I decided to try and read 100 books in a year. When I set the goal, I didn’t do the math, and it wasn’t until months later that I realized that in order to read 100 books in a year, I’d have to read 8.3 books a month. Or, in other words, 1.9 books a week. And it was then that I realized that I was woefully behind schedule.

Nonetheless, I persevered and managed to read 65 books that year, followed by the remaining 35 books the next year.

The books I tackled during that challenge are listed below, as are the books I’ve read since then.

Why does all of this reading matter to a writer, you ask? Stephen King supplies the answer in his book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft:

“If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
